The announcement comes shortly after police nabbed a 17-year-old boy who they say was the shooter and 32-year-old Shauntel Trone, his stepmom, NBC Los Angeles reports.
In a statement released Wednesday, Sept. 28, Los Angeles police identified a third suspect, Freddie Lee Trone as the getaway driver involved in the Sept. 12 murder of the 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rakim Allen.
The hip-hop artist was dining with his girlfriend at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles on West Manchester Avenue that afternoon when he was shot and robbed of his jewelry, authorities said.
The suspect fled the scene in a getaway car while Allen was pronounced dead at 2 p.m.
A gruesome video of the aftermath of the shooting quickly went viral on social media.
It appeared to show Allen face down in a pool of blood as bystanders rushed to his aid. The 31-second clip has since been removed for violating Twitter guidelines.
Authorities were also looking into his girlfriend's since-deleted Instagram post that tagged the restaurant's location just before the deadly robbery, multiple news reports say.
Anyone who sees Trone or has additional information about the murder is urged to call 9-1-1 or contact South Bureau Homicide Divisions Detectives Nellie Knight or Matthew Clark at 323-786-5146.
Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
